Christmas Midnight Mass: God’s grace has been revealed

The second reading for Christmas Midnight Mass starts with the phrase “God’s grace has been revealed…”

Today we reflect, not only on the historical birth of Jesus of Nazareth, but also on the smaller moments of grace revealed in our lives and in our world. We reflect on the moments of our lives when we felt God’s presence in prayers answered, in moments of solitude accompanied, in reconciliations in the family.

We reflect on how God’s grace has been revealed in our world in moments of Good News, in people just like us reaching out to those in need throughout the world, in acts of holy resistance, in efforts to achieve reconciliation among nations. We recognize both in our personal lives as well as in our world that the Star is still shining in the night sky and the angels still sing:

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace to all who enjoy God’s favor.”
