“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. 46 When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it. (Matthew 13)
Living in God’s Reign, under God’s influence, is like a joyful discovery that changes everything in our lives. It requires a big investment: everything, all we have, all we do and all we are. It changes our lives when we discover the secret. Pedro Arrupe, SJ understood this: “What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude.”
We ask ourselves … what is our pearl? What is our treasure? What are we in love with? For what do we invest everything? Let us fall in love every day with God’s Reign among us. Let us allow God’s Reign to transform our lives and the world around us.
