Rooted!

Rooted! On a recent visit with family in Florida, I decided to take a picture of a beautiful Norfolk Pine that stands proudly in their back yard. This tree, four years ago, was part of a Christmas gift I gave my sister and brother-in-law. At that time it resided in a six inch plastic pot and was adorned with small red bows. Today, residing in what I’m going to call very rich Florida soil, it stands at least 12 feet tall. Yep! Four years – I’m not making this up! Who could have guessed the potential that was yearning to be released. Good soil, a light to guide it and it opened itself to become the beauty God intended it to be. I/we are a lot like this tree. Firmly planted in the Gospel, with the redeeming light of Christ to guide us, it’s up to each of us to sink our roots deeper and deeper and open ourselves to be all that God has created us to be. Dig deep and reach for the stars! Not a bad motto to live by!
