Today I did the six-star Sudoku in the morning paper. It took me awhile. I had to write possible numbers in the corners of the little squares and puzzle over the spots that could be right for two (or five) different numbers. I was rather stuck-up about finally getting 81 numbers in the right places. Then I thought: God has been keeping every speck of the universe in the right place for some fourteen billion years, and he doesn’t have to write anything in the corners.
