I was thinking about some of the popular truths and cultural rules that I fervently believe. One of them is Murphy’s Law. I’m always quoting it or one of its corollaries: “Whatever can go wrong will go wrong,” “The traffic always moves better in the other lane,” or “The car will never act up in the shop.” These laws seem to be proven over and over in daily experience.
What would Jesus say to this “rule?” “But I say to you … even the seemingly impossible can go right. Believe that God is moving heaven and earth to help you out even in life’s minor inconveniences. Don’t let pessimism defeat you! Believe!”
At least today I will refrain from quoting Murphy’s Law.
