Stories from around our CPPS world

3-photos_helping-hands-of-stThe needy in East Toledo can easily find a source of hot meals, clothing, groceries, hygiene kits, social services, etc., at a special place called HELPING HANDS OF ST. LOUIS operated by Catholic Charities of the Toledo Diocese. Services are provided in the church and school of the now closed St. Louis Parish.

A recent Back to School event called SHOE FEST was held to provide free shoes, back packs and school supplies. Over 500 pairs of new shoes were available. Volunteers washed the feet of the children before giving them new socks and shoes. Many happy smiles and words of gratitude were expressed before heading home. Sister Rita Rogier helped register the families and children with 420 assisted that morning.

Sisters of the Precious Blood have been involved with Helping Hands for many years by serving on the Board, providing grants through the Maria Anna Brunner Fund, financial donations and the Stewardship Fund. Sister Rita continues this involvement by volunteering in the Clothing Center Kitchen and for special events.
