Peace Dayton

disturbing-the-peacePeace Dayton is a collaborative group of Dayton churches, organizations and groups that plan activities during the month of September as part of recognizing International Day of Peace, September 21. These activities are held throughout the month at various locations. We Sisters of the Precious Blood are sponsoring a viewing of the documentary “Disturbing the Peace” on Sunday, September 9 from 2:00 to 4:30 pm at Salem Heights. Co-sponsors are the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church.

The film “follows former enemy combatants – Israeli soldiers from elite units and Palestinian fighters, many of whom served years in prison – who have joined together to challenge the status quo and say ‘enough’.” The documentary is 87 minutes and will be followed by some discussion. All are welcome!

• The Peace Dayton Collaborative Group, a consortium of over 100 Dayton and Miami Valley organizations, is hosting over 40 local peace events during September in celebration and commemoration of U.N. International Day of Peace.

• The Peace Dayton Collaborative Group includes members from all sectors and communities in the Miami Valley, including business, arts, academic, service, environmental, faith-based, security, recreational, healthcare and civic leadership. In addition to yearly organizing of events, the Collaborative Group encourages and highlights each organization’s year-long efforts to build a more peaceful community for the Dayton Region’s children and families.

• Peace is broadly defined by the Group as the consensus values of increased safety, prosperity, and quality of life.
