Sisters recognized as outstanding caregivers

On Sunday, November 11, Sisters Gerri McGeorge and Nancy Recker were among over 80 people to be honored with 2018 Outstanding Caregiver awards at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral in Cincinnati. Bishop Joseph R. Binzer celebrated the White Mass, so named for the traditional white garb worn by physicians and medical professionals. In the church, white symbolizes hope and comfort for the ill. The caregivers were recognized for the hope they bring to those they care for and minister with.

The individuals honored at the Mass were nominated by the facility where they work or volunteer as being outstanding representatives of the mission of that organization; they represented a broad range of senior living communities, hospitals and parishes throughout the archdiocese. Sister Gerri serves as co-coordinator of Sister residents and Sister Nancy provides pastoral care, both at the Maria Joseph Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
