Fifty years may seem like a long time but for the C.PP.S. Postulant Class of 1965-66, it was just “like yesterday” as classmates gathered in Covington, Ky., for a reunion on Sept. 18-19. Eighteen of the 52 classmates arrived from eight Ohio cities along with travelers from Arizona, South Carolina, Michigan and Missouri. Joining the group on Saturday evening were also two former Fatima underclassmates who lived nearby.
Through Friday evening, all day Saturday and even through Sunday morning memories and good times from the days at Fatima through the Postulant year were shared. It was amazing how so many years had passed, but no one could tell from the way classmates recognized one another and laughed at the many memorable events of those years. Classmates shared the latest news including careers, families, travels and dreams for the future.
Eight classmates joined the event from heaven: Carmen Bauer, Pat Bockey, Mary Ann Foreman, Bernadette Daggett, Millie Lenhart, June Ann Meyer, Jane Purvis and Janice Reilly.
During the gathering items brought by classmates were auctioned off, with the proceeds going to a special lady the classmates know and love. One evening, 20 friends raised $1,006.
As tears were shed classmates clearly remembered why they were all so close and why they always have felt that the class was unique, special and a group of fantastic women. Future gatherings are planned with the next reunion in 2-3 years at the same location.
