Salem Heights Sisters celebrate milestone jubilees

Pentecost Sunday was particularly special at Salem Heights on May 19 as the Precious Blood Sisters who live there or in Dayton celebrated milestone jubilees with a luncheon, Mass and reception.

Sisters Mary Kathryn Gurren, Eleanor McNally and Bernice Krieg are marking 80 years in the community, while Sister Mary Rose McCrate is celebrating 60 years. Family and friends of the jubilarians joined about 40 Sisters at Salem Heights for the celebration.

There were plenty of smiles as corsages were pinned on the jubiliarians, who then were introduced as they entered the dining room before the meal. The Sisters enjoyed brunch and social time. Gifts and cards were also presented to the honorees. The jubilarians expressed their gratitude to the community for inspiring them to live their lives as Sisters of the Precious Blood.

Missionary of the Precious Blood Father Ralph Verdi was the main celebrant at the Mass in Salem Heights Chapel with Precious Blood Fathers Ken Schroeder and James Dugal concelebrating. The jubilarians had special roles in the Eucharist as cantors, readers and gift-bearers. Sister Joyce Lehman led Sisters during a renewal of their vows.

An early evening reception with family and friends followed, and group photos rounded out the day.
