An April 14 gathering at Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics to explore the artistic value of numerous old works of art at the shrine was featured in several area newspapers. Art expert Diane Apostolos-Cappadonna viewed and spoke about dozens of 19th-century paintings in the shrine's possession and their importance for chronicling the religious history of the region and the era. Catholic Telegraph — January 14, 2011

Sisters of the Precious Blood were showcased in two feature stories in the Jan. 14 issue of the Catholic Telegraph, newspaper of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

The paper's "Everyday Evangelists" feature profiled Dick McBride, a Dayton area businessman who has devoted most of his career to helping the poor, especially by providing affordable housing. The article also featured Sister Rose Helen Wildenhaus, who has worked with McBride for many years on projects connected with St. Mary Development Corporation which provides low-cost elderly housing in Dayton. The Telegraph's Vocations section profiled a whole family with Precious Blood and religious life connections, the Hoying cousins. Three Precious Blood Sisters, two priests and a Franciscan sister made their commitment to religious life a family affair. For the full story, click here.

VISION, the 2011 Catholic Religious: Vocation Discernment Guide

In its new 2011 issue, the popular magazine-format guide published an extensive print feature article on religious women and men who are artists and a sampling of their work. An additional online extended feature showcases many additional sisters, brothers and priests who are artists, and their reflections on this unique form of creative ministry. The late Sister Eileen Tomlinson, artist in residence for the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Dayton for many years, is showcased in the online feature (click here and scroll toward the bottom).

The Cincinnati Enquirer, Middletown Journal — August and September 2010

One of the unveilings of the postage stamp honoring Mother Teresa of Calcutta took place on Sept. 7 at the Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School near Middletown, Ohio, where Precious Blood Sister Anne Schulz is principal. Catholic Chronicle, Toledo: Aug. 8, 2010 Print and Web Editions

The Catholic Chronicle, newspaper of the Diocese of Toledo, Ohio, showcased this year's religious jubilarians in its Aug. 8 special section "Celebrating Jubilees." The print edition features names and photos of the C.PP.S. jubilarians who are from and/or who served in the diocese, as well as those of other congregations. The website features short biographies of this year's three C.PP.S. jubilarians: (60 years) Sisters Rita Herman and Lou Ann Roof and (50) Sister Nancy Recker. The Manteca Bulletin – February 2010

Sister Margo Young was invited to her alma mater, St. Anthony School in Manteca, Calif., in February to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award from the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA). The awards are presented each year by NCEA to honor distinguished alumni who represent the success of Catholic education and its values in their lives and work. This was Sister Margo's first visit back to the school, where she was a member of the first graduating class in 1961.

Like many dioceses around the country, the Toledo Diocese has also embarked on a plan to "twin" parishes: two parishes served by one pastor, but each retaining its name and identity. For many parishes, this approach has been their survival and is a win-win situation in the landscape of fewer priests and changing parish demographics. WHIO TV – March 27, 2010

Progress Ohio and an Ohio legislator are among those calling for an end to what is called the "gun show loophole" that allows the sale of firearms at gun shows without the usual I.D. check and waiting period. Recognized for the congregation's commitment to nonviolence and reconciliation, three C.PP.S. Dayton Daily News – October 2009

C.PP.S. Sisters were featured in the Dayton Daily News on two consecutive days, Oct. 26 and 27.

A front page story in the Oct. 26 edition showcased the reopening of the Twin Towers senior housing development in Dayton. The photo and story featured Sister Rose Helene Wildenhaus, who led the renovation effort and was also a co- founder in 1989 of the St. Mary Development Corporation which sponsors the housing. To highlight October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Dayton Daily News has been publishing a monthlong series, with a story each day, on breast cancer survivors and the resources and programs that help them. Two C.PP.S. Sisters, Rosemary Goubeaux and Judy Niday, were featured Oct. 27 in a story by Meredith Moss, "Nuns face breast cancer with faith and community." The interview focuses on the importance both community and the support of prayer played in the healing process for the two. North County Times – October 2009

The Oct. 16 issue of North County Times (San Bernardino, California) published an advance story on the Oct. 17 celebration of the C.PP.S. anniversary at Mission San Luis Rey, gave a brief history and interviewed two sisters who are California natives, Sisters Eleanor McNally and Mary Yarger. The Oct. 4 celebration of C.PP.S. 175th anniversary in Dayton at Precious Blood Church was the page one feature story in the Oct. 9 issue of The Catholic Telegraph, newspaper of the Cincinnati Archdiocese. To view the photo gallery, click here.

In the same issue, which included the Catholic Missions section, C.PP.S. Sister Marifé Hellman in Guatemala was one of several foreign missionaries from the archdiocese who were interviewed about how technology helps them in their work. The page 19 story was titled "New media makes missionary work come alive in 'real time'. The issue's center spread, a tribute to missioners from the archdiocese, includes C.PP.S. Sisters serving both overseas and in home mission territory in the United States: (Chile) Sisters Maria Luisa Miller, Carmelita Monnin and Dorothy Schmitmeyer; (Guatemala) Sister Marifé, and among Home Missionaries, (Kentucky) Sister Margie Zureick.

U.S. Catholic – July 2009

The essay section "The Examined Life" in the current issue of U.S. Catholic magazine includes a mention of a Dayton C.PP.S. In his essay (and also web column) "Above and beyond the call," managing editor Bryan Cones addresses the current Vatican investigation of U.S. women religious. He singles out several sisters who have been inspirations in his life: "Among them is Joyce [Ann Zimmerman], a Precious Blood Sister who taught me in college to love and pray the liturgy..."
